Social services play a critical role in promoting the well-being of communities and society as a whole. Donations to support social services can make a positive impact on the lives of those served and help to make our world a better place.

Our mission is to provide preschoolage childrenfrom the City of Maroondah and surrounding areas a quality, affordable educational toy library service with a wide range of stimulating toys appropriate for their education and development. We encourage caregivers to engage in their child's play and seek to raise awareness of the importance and value of play. We are run by a volunteer committee of management elected by our members each year, and three part time staff. In 2020, our library was required to close during the two lock downs in Melbourne during COVID 19 restrictions in Victoria. We were able to introduce a click and collect system for families to book toys and safely collect them from our outdoor area to provide stimulation, education and entertainment while we were all required to stay home. We also offered a delivery service of toys and resources to vulnerable families in line with our COVID safe plan. WE launched a carers program for families with children who have additional needs. Before COVID shutdowns we offered a carers playgroup and borrowing session every Wednesday morning during the school terms. We also held monthly board game nights to help connect local parents through a fun and inexpensive social activity.

Why should I donate to support social services causes?

One way to think about it is that by donating to social services causes, you are helping to create a safety net for people who may need assistance. This safety net can be crucial for people who are struggling with poverty, homelessness, or other difficult life circumstances. Additionally, donating to social services causes can help to prevent these problems from happening in the first place by providing resources and support to those who are at risk.

Why do social services-focused charities and nonprofits need funds?

There are a number of reasons why social services-focused charities and nonprofits need funds. First, these organizations often provide vital services to members of the community who may not be able to access or afford these services otherwise. Additionally, social service organizations often have very limited budgets, which can make it difficult to maintain operations and provide adequate levels of service. Finally, many social service organizations rely heavily on volunteers, which can also strain resources. Therefore, fundraising is essential for social services-focused charities and nonprofits in order to maintain operations and continue serving the community.

What are some ways donations are used to support social services?

There are many ways that donations can support social services. One way is by providing financial assistance to help cover the cost of operating a social service organization. This can help to ensure that the organization is able to continue providing its services to those in need. Additionally, donations can be used to provide programmatic support, such as funding educational programs or purchasing supplies and equipment.

How else can I support charities and nonprofits that focus on social services, aside from donations?

There are a few different ways you can support charities and nonprofits that focus on social services, aside from donations. You can volunteer your time to help with different events or fundraisers that they may be having. You can also spread the word to others about the work that these organizations do and encourage them to get involved as well. Finally, you can always advocate for these charities and nonprofits by writing letters or attending rallies to help raise awareness for their cause.
